“Arrgh!”. With a blast I hurled my staff around me and hit Masrurs lower arm. He was so fast and accurate like a predator as he led the staff aside, grabbed the brittle wood and tossed me over him. I mustered my strength one last time, stuck to my staff in the air and sent a kick to his face. With unbelievable speed he catapulted himself away from me and my kick went to nothing.

“Dam----!!”. Unstable I flailed about in mid-air and I wasn’t able to adjust myself as Masrur appeared behind me and looped his arms around my arms and neck. I couldn’t make a single move.

“Your movements are too vague….you’re not using your force the right way…”. With a deep and husky voice Masrur whispered into my ear and it seemed he didn’t use force at all during battle. It was frustrating. A few more times I tried to escape his grip but to no avail. It was like convincing a fighter who learned to never give up to just let you go. At the time when Masrur realized I gave up struggling he let go of me.

“You’re one to talk…you’re literally bursting with energy…”. Exhausted I bent down to pick up my staff which fell down during our little scuffle. As I looked at the big Fanalis his eyes laid quiet upon me. Since I started training with Masrur I could show off such success in this short time.

“ Ah you’re training again?”. Masrur looked across me and silently observed Jaf’ar who came to a halt next to me. I put my staff away and curiously looked at Jaf’ar as he drew a piece of paper out of his sleeve.

“To be honest I just came to inform Masrur that Sinbad will soon be leaving Sindria for the Kou empire and he will be the one escorting him…there will be a meeting in the evening because of this matter…”.

Masrur just nodded in agreement but I felt a sudden weird sensation rising in my stomach. If I have to describe it it would be concern. “ If you would excuse me...I have still a lot to prepare for the journey…”. I had to smirk as Jaf’ar pulled the piece of paper back with a frown on his face. Even if he was complaining all the time we all knew he loved to take over all this tasks.

“Our training has to take a break until my return…”. I didn’t realized how I snuggled my face into Masrurs hand which he had laid upon my head. His gaze protectively hovering over me. I knew Masrur was one of the strongest men on the seven seas and beyond but still…every time he set out on a mission it hurt inside. “ It’s okay…maybe Sharrkan will train with me while you’re absent…”. Carefully I pulled his hand off my head and examined his big palm with my slender fingers which looked so tiny compared to his.

“With Sharrkan?”. Taken aback I looked up to the tall Fanalis as Sharrkans name warily left his lips and his eyes pensively starred into the distance. “ Yes…sometimes when you’re gone he trains with me…only when he’s taking a break fighting with Yamraiha over nothing…”.

I had to giggle at the thought of the two squabblers. They maybe don’t know it yet but they’re meant for each other. Masrur let out a sigh and retracted his hand. He ran his fingers through his messy reddish hair which was still a bit moist from the battle. “ Let’s go back…”. Staggered by his sudden departure I stumbled after him my muscles still sour from the exhausting training.

~in the palace~

“Aaaah…_______-chan did you train HARD with our little Masrur again…”. A sudden blush exploded on my face as I saw Minahoho in front of me a big grin on his face. Unlike me Masrur just boringly stared at the even bigger general. “Minahoho why’d you have to annoy _______all the time?!”. I looked up at Yamraiha who floated on her wand and reprovingly pointed at Minahoho.

“Now come on Yamraiha…it’s not like you don’t know of ______-chan little crush on our Masrur…besides some little warriors will just fit in perfectly into our weird little family don’t you think?”. Minahoho had to hold his belly as a loud laugh erupted from his mouth. My face felt like it was about to explode. Without another word I dropped my gaze and ran past the laughing general. Masrurs eyes still on me.

“______ wait! Now you’ve stretched a point Mina…”. Yamraiha sent a ball of water at Minahoho and followed right behind me on her hovering wand.  “ Meh women nee Masrur…but we cannot live with nor without them do we…”. He shook the remaining water off and laughingly swung an arm around Masrur which only looked at Minahoho with a frown.

I pushed the door to my room open and walked at a smart pace right to the balcony. The fresh sea breeze blew through my hair and I held onto the handrail with uncommon tension. “Stupid Minahoho…”. My gaze wandered across the peaceful city of Sindria which I had a perfect view of.

I haven’t lived for long in Sinbads kingdom. Two years ago I came to this island in the hope that I would find shelter. The slave traders that were after me were very persistent and Sindria seemed to be the only safe place for me to stay. That’s what I thought. The ship that carried me to the island also carried my torturers. I didn’t take long and I soon found myself in bonds again but instead of going back to the dark dungeon someone saved me. Masrur had been there on this very day and broke the chains that kept me trapped for so long. This was the moment that made me fell in love with him.

I took me more than a year to feel completely comfortable in my new home. Masrur took me to meet the king which I had imagined in a totally different way. I knew king Sinbad only from hearing tales but he wasn’t that scary. His people loved him and soon I was one of them. Even if I didn’t understand why Sinbad invited me into his home although I was a total stranger to him. He gave me new clothes, food and he made Masrur train me. Another year passed and I’d almost forgotten the time as a slave. Just once in a while a bad dream made me remember this horrible live.

In these past two years Masrur had always been at my side. He watched over me and had rescued me out of one or two hairy situations when I thought that I had already mastered the staff.

“ Ne _______...”. I didn’t look at Yamraiha and my angry gaze tirelessly wandered into the distance. It didn’t bother me that tears stained my face. “Come on you know that Minahoho didn’t do it on purpose…”. Yamraiha jumped off her wand and kept it floating next to her. Offended I blew a flick of hair out of my face and peeked at the young magician.

“ Yamraiha why am I here again…me…a former slave…I’m nothing special like you and still you treat me like family…”. A smile spread across the females face and she jumped onto the handrail. “You serious?! You are special and that’s why Sinbad took you in…I’ve even heard him, Jaf’ar and Masrur discuss about promoting you for general…most of all Masrur fought for you”. I hid my face behind my crossed arms and a faint smile crept onto my lips.

“Thank you Yamraiha…”. The magician cheerfully laid a hand on my shoulder and softly stroked it. “And…when will you admit that you like Masrur…?”. I stared at her…shock written all over my face when she stuck her tongue at me. “Heeeeehhh?! But …how..?!”.

Amused she turned her wand in her hand and kept her gaze down on me. It was no use lying to the kings magician. A sigh left my parted lips as I slouched my shoulders. “It’s so hard Yamraiha…I want to thank him every day for what he had done for me…but I’m just a---AAAH!!”. Immediately I grabbed my head after Yamraiha smashed her wand onto it.

“Stop it will ya…do you really think Masrur will not like you just because you’re a girl from the streets?!”. I rubbed my had and light tears clouded my vision. “All of us including Masrur had a past which was nothing comparing to our lives now…Masrur was a gladiator just a few years ago and believe me…his live was one of the worst out of all”. I looked at Yamraiha with big eyes and turned my gaze aside. Ashamed.

“I had no idea…”. I put my hands down and again my eyes drifted to the distance. The waves created a stir and the salty ocean air had a nice scent to it. “Talk to him…I can feel that you mean a lot to him…”. I leant against Yamraiha as she slung her arms around me. “ Thank you…”.

I walked beside the young magician through the halls of the palace. Sinbad had summoned all his generals. Including me. Maybe he wanted to discuss open matters with his generals before his journey to the Kou empire.

As we arrived at Sinbads chamber everyone else was already waiting there. I averted my gaze as I met those gorgeous orbs of the tall Fanalis. I just hoped he didn’t see my blushing face.

“It’s great that you all came here today…”. Sinbad sat at the end of his long table…his fingers crossed in front of his face. I stood between Yamraiha and Sharrkan who already exchanged black looks.

“As you already know I’ll leave at tomorrow morning for the Kou empire. Jaf’ar and Masrur will join me but before that I wanted to gather all of you one more time to discuss some important matter…”.

I looked around as all eyes laid upon me and some carried a bright smile on their face.

“________”.

I winced at Sinbads deep voice as he rose from his seat and walked to my side. “You’ve been with us for quite some time now and we can all see your progress that you’ve made…”. I tensed up a bit as Sinbads hands rested on my shoulders and a smile played upon his lips. “It would be a pleasure to have you at my side as a general from now on…”. Doubtfully I looked back and forth between him and Yamraiha who sent me a cheerful wink. “B….but I…”. Sinbad silenced me with his big hand.

“Masrur convinced me that you’re ready for this…but I would’ve made you a general anyway…”. He started to laugh at the top of his lungs and I looked at Masrur whos gaze laid on me in protection.

“So what’s your answer girl?”. I stumbled a step forward as Minahoho slapped his big hand onto my back. Silently I looked at the other generals and as I met Masrurs gaze I slowly made my way toward him until I stopped a few inches before him.

“You really think I can do this?”. I was hard for me to brave his gaze and my glowing cheeks made it almost impossible for me to find the right words. Masrur didn’t say anything but laid his hand softly on my head.

“Yes...”.

His smile not only surprised myself but all the other generals as well as the king and I didn’t hasitate any longer to give Sinbad my assurance. “Wohooo now you’re really one of us!”. I jerked as Minahoho put his arms under me and jubilantly raised me on his shoulders. All the others applauded and bid me welcome. Masrurs smile was still on his lips.

To mark the occasion Sinbad organized a party for all people of Sindria. Minahoho and Drakon danced in the middle of the crowd their wives swirling in their arms. Sharrkan already laid drunk in the arms of some women and Sinbad kept him company...cheerfully swinging an already empty winebottle in his hand. Jafar only shook his head.

Yamraiha sat next to me sending venomous glances at the white haired drunken general. On her cheeks a furious blush. “When are you going to tell him that you like him…?”. I had to surpass a laugh as she spilled her drink almost all over her skirt. “Are you insane…this dickhead?!”. I just peeped over the rim of my mug and just like she knew of my crush on Masrur I knew of her crush on Sharrkan. She just sighed and laid her head on the sticky table but no matter how hard she tried not to laugh she had to enter my laughing.

“Say where is Masrur…I haven’t seen him around since the preparation for the party…?”. Yamraiha looked through the crowd and I did the same. “You just take care of Sharrkan I’ll go look for him…after all this party is for him as well…”. I stood up…my mug still in my hand and made way way through the dancing people.

My legs carried me away from the party until I could only made out a few colourful lights and voices in the distance. Partying was never a thing of mine. I walked up the hill a bit further and looked into my mug…a bit of red wine still wobbling in it. I raised my gaze and stopped when I spotted Masrur leaning against a tree. Loosely he had crossed his arms in front of him and also looked at the active going-ons.

“There you are…we’ve been looking for you…”. Surprised of hearing my voice he looked at me and arched up from the tree. “I could’ve thought of you not joining the festivities…”. Ashamed I looked at my mug and swung in back and forth. The tall Fanalis came closer and stopped only a few inches in front of me.

“Don’t you feel comfortable as general?”. Surprised by his deep voice I looked up at him and for the first time it was him who averted my glance.

“Well it was a bit sudden for me but when I heard it was you who stood up for me…I was really happy…”. I nervously swung the mug back and forth a bit faster and I just wanted to shout at him…tell him that I was in love with him.

“That’s good…because I don’t want to force you to do something you don’t like…”. He forced me to look at him as I felt his fingers under my chin. His thump swept over my cheek  and a warm smile crept onto his lips again. “ Masrur…I…”. I laid a hand onto his golden torso. “ I know you are strong but…please take care…don’t underestimate the people of Kou…”. I stood onto my tiptoes and even than he was too tall for me. I brushed a kiss on his cheek and I felt him lean down a bit to help me gain better access to his face. If I can’t tell him how I truly feel than at least I want to show him just a little bit.

“ Thank you for everything Masrur…cheers…”.

I had a smile on my lips as I raised my mug to drink the remaining wine. But the red liquid never moistened my lips because Masrur carefully grasped my wrist and prevented the mug from ever reaching my pursed lips. Instead of the cold mug I felt something much more soft.

Even though this man was so full of power and strength he kissed me with such tenderness. Careless I let the mug leave my hand and fell to the ground and let it happen that Masrur put his arms under me to lift me up. I dug my fingers into his pink locks and his lips ached for mine.

“Masrur…”. He was reluctant to leave my lips and lifted me up higher so that I could look into these captive eyes of him. Never before had I’ve seen this sparkle in his eyes. “Promise me to come back safely…”. I bent down and put my forehead on his. A warm smile played around his lips and he snuggled his forehead closer to mine.

“Promise…always…”.
Oh yes our big yummy Fanalis :P
